Extracts from the Penmorebeg visitors book for 2004

'A week of mixed weather, becoming better towards the end. Island scenery stunning. Birds of prey galore. Otters not seen. Chip shop van in Tobermory fantastic. Local pub great. Rigid Inflatable Boat trip awesome.'

'Wet enough for the tropics outside, warm enough for the tropics inside. Rained every day bar one but still had a great time.  Sorry we got 91 species although that was over the whole island and a bit of sea. The otter parade in the bay will be missed when we go home. Just an exceptional island and a smashing cottage.'

'We’ve always enjoyed Mull but finding Penmorebeg is a bonus, so well equipped –‘a home’. Enjoyed cooking everything on the Rayburn, great fun.  Long walks with black lab. Wildlife wonderful – Sea eagles, otters, hen harriers, merlin etc. etc. Fabulous displays from ravens and buzzards. Loved the trees round the house with glimpses of spectacular views. Enjoyed the pictures and books very much, even the visitors book! AND the week has been glorious, blue sky, sea shimmering with sun light.'

'Our wildlife record includes 50 bird species, 7 mammals, 8 butterflies and 4 dragon flies. These have all been seen between Calgary and Tobermory. We have not felt the need to travel further. We had a good dinner at Druimard Country House across the river. We were looking forward to a game of ping pong to while away the sodden moments but the weather has been far too good.'

'Lovely comfortable and well equipped cottage. Children and dogs enjoyed playing in and exploring grounds. Weather good, only 1 wet day. The boat trip to Staffa and Iona from Ulva Ferry is highly recommended- we saw seals, otter and porpoises. Great walking and swimming- wonderful clear water. In short we all had a wonderful time.'

'Great location and house. Good to be back on Mull. Experienced both extremes of weather. 26°C and 12cm rain in three days!'

'Very peaceful. Sorry to go.'

'This is a wonderful place. Views are spectacular. Pity the weather wasn’t but we still managed to get out and about. The bungalow is very well fitted out and very comfortable.'

'If John Logie Baird had stayed here he might not have invented the telly!! The countryside speaks for itself. The people are incredibly friendly and warm. The otters seem to be the only shy ones round here. A marvellous time was had by all. We ate almost as well as the midges. I think I finally found my own wee piece of heaven.'
